Art Inc. Kentucky, a non-profit business and marketing incubator operated by Community Ventures, is in need of $5,000 to deliver its “Artrepreneur” series to Louisville area artists.
The series, which is designed to help artists convert their passion for making art into life-sustaining business endeavors, creatively blends classroom-style business training and one-on-one individual business consultation with opportunities to market and actually sell their work. It culminates in a multi-day art show and exhibit called WE Art: Celebrating Art in Louisville’s West End - an opportunity for 15 to 18 artists to have their work put on view and sold at a show to be held in Louisville’s Russell Neighborhood.
The Artreprenuer Series will welcome all artists from the Greater Louisville area but will place a special focus on supporting artists of color, women artists, artists that are military veterans, artists that have physical challenges and artists that live or work in West Louisville.
This project will provide approximately 40 artists with valuable arts-based business classes such as: How to price their artwork; How to market their art work; How to create a legal arts-based business and understand taxes and insurance requirements; How to sell art on Etsy and How to approach art galleries along with one-on-one opportunities to learn about personal financial planning, saving and investing, retirement planning, how to work with financial institutions, and understanding credit.
Ultimately, this series will provide artists with the resources necessary for them to succeed. It will empower and present them with the tools to pursue their dreams of operating a creative enterprise while simultaneously increasing the public’s access to art work. At the same time, it will help to cultivate and encourage aspiring and seasoned artists get their work out into the community through the WE Art event. And lastly, but just as importantly, it will help to generate sustainable economic activity in West Louisville.
Your support is greatly appreciated.
